Northern Rockies Medical Center
Cut Bank, Montana
Serving a community of 13,000 people, Northern Rockies Medical center (“NMRC”) is a non-profit, 20 bed critical access hospital located in Cut Bank, Montana.
“We were having a tough time with cash,” says NRMC CEO Cherie Taylor. “We had to improve our cash flow if we were going to meet expenses and keep our doors open.”
Taylor had been investigating a factoring company when her bank told her to take a look at Insight’s program. Unlike a factoring company, the bank would have a reserve account in place for the hospital and Taylor wanted to ensure she’d be getting enough cash up front to make the program worthwhile.
Today, thanks to Insights program, NRMC enjoys steady, predictable cash flow, is meeting operational needs and maintains the staff levels necessary to provide quality care. Taylor’s office staff processes claims just as before – but now has immediate cash to cover costs, rather than waiting for reimbursements to arrive.
Ongoing cash flow is clearly the benefit of Insight’s program, but Taylor has found the program to be an invaluable tool in managing transition. When the facility was converted to a critical access hospital, changes to its billing systems meant there was a 60 day period which the facility received no reimbursements. Insight took care of that lag.
Taylor also appreciates the program’s efficiency and ease of use. Designed to be non-intrusive to back office operations, Insight’s technology is a quiet force behind the scenes. “It has enhanced our daily business operations,” Taylor explains. “Because it’s web-based, we can post invoices very quickly. This kind of technology is really the only way to go.”
“We weren’t sure we’d be able to keep our doors open,” Taylor continues. “Now we’re recovering quickly and Insight has made the difference.”
